What Cost

By Christopher R Rice

The Iraq war is costing over a trillion dollars and it could easily drag on as Viet Nam did for another decade. This has lead to massive deficits.

The 2005 deficit was $400 billion. Today's deficit stands at over $12 trillion.

In addition because of outsourcing, the USA, a former net exporter, had a $800 billion trade deficit in 2005. It imported $800 billion more than it exported. This shortfall is one of the factors causing the buying power of the US dollar to collapse.

Military spending has dried up other government spending, meaning lost jobs. The Bush administration encouraged outsourcing which further destroyed jobs.

The USA is ridiculously overspending on the military, all out of proportion to the threat. For example, even back in 2003 before the USA doubled its military spending, it was still spending more than all the other countries of the earth combined. There is no way that sort of expenditure is justified purely for defense.

Military spending has already bankrupted the country in the sense that even future generations will not be able to make good on the outstanding debt according to Professor Laurence Kotlikoff of Boston University speaking for the Federal Reserve Bank of St Louis, a leading constituent of the US Federal Reserve.

The USA has greatly increased its per capita spending to cover the costs of the war in Afghanistan, the Iraq war and the costs of the homeland security bureaucracy. And Trump is sending more troops to Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria.

The USA has military bases in almost every country on earth. There are obviously not for defending the homeland, but for defending America’s economic interests abroad.

This military empire is to support a lavish consuming lifestyle at the expense of the third world. The American military’s job is to pressure foreign governments to give American businesses what they want. How else could it be that Americans manage, with under 6% of the world population, to consume about a 40-60% of the planet’s resources? How is it possible that people in other parts of the world accept a $0.06 a hour wage to produce goods for Americans. That is less than slave wages. Slaves, like livestock, at least had their food and medical bills covered and even a form of retirement.

Like a French aristocrat of old, the modern American believes he fully deserves his privileged position as a right of birth. He deserves it for being American, one of God’s chosen people. He vaguely imagines that his industriousness or other innate virtue fully explains the economic disparity. He labors under the delusion that those in the rest of the world are happy to work in American sweat shops. It never enters his head that such extreme inequality can only be maintained by global military oppression and state-sponsored political corruption to bribe and threaten world leaders to act in the interests of American business rather than the interests of their own countries.

The main difference in the outcome of WWII (World War II) was the language we speak. The economic neocolonialism is the same as had the Nazis won. Just as Nazis saw themselves as innately superior and deserving of special privilege, so do Americans. They don’t recognize that their superiority complex is just as odious to others and leads them to just as evil deeds.

There is an incredible extra burden we are putting on the earth’s carrying capacity, especially in Asia and the Pacific. There are ever more people fighting for a dwindling supply of resources.

Bush presided over a $3 trillion dollar embezzlement and covered it up. The war is a cover for massive embezzlement. Bush lost/embezzled $3 trillion from the Pentagon. Not $3 billion, $3 trillion, that is $3,000 billion, 10 Iraq wars worth or $40,000 per US family. The complicit Bush-friendly media kept mum about the biggest theft in history, though months later the San Francisco Chronicle finally covered some of it. Most people are astounded to learn that Rumsfeld confessed to the loss on camera and excused it as an accounting error. Unfortunately all trace of this video has disappeared from the Internet. I spent hours trying to find a copy. It was available for many months on C-SPAN originally.

"According to the Comptroller General of the United States, there are serious financial management problems at the Pentagon, to which Mr. Cooper alluded."

Fiscal Year 2000, $1.1 trillion missing.
~ Cynthia McKinney (born:1955-03-17 age:62) Rep, 2005-03-11

8.8 billion dollars earmarked for the Iraq war have also been embezzled, or in Bush speak is improperly accounted for. And, of course, Iraq’s own oil money went missing as well.

Bush raided the social security fund to partly cover up his spending bloat.

Trump wants to destroy democratic government and hand the reigns to private corporations, much the way society was organized in the 1800s, without any regulation on the robber barons.

US Army Atrocities Inside Iraq and Afghanistan- Worse than Nazi Germany

It took 500 years for the atrocities of the Spanish Conquistadors to become widely known. Spaniards, Nazis, Russians, Americans… like all humans, are deeply in denial of their own atrocities. They work hard to keep them hidden and to attack those who expose them.

The nationalist not only does not disapprove of atrocities committed by his own side, but he has a remarkable capacity for not even hearing about them.
~ George Orwell (born:1903-06-25 died:1950-01-21 at age:46)

Even Hitler refused to use poison gas. Hitler and Stalin only used a handful of tortures. Bush concocted over 70.

Private Joshua Key reported US soldiers playing soccer with the decapitated heads of Iraqi soldiers on 2007-03-04.

Six US soldiers gang raped a 14 year old Iraqi girl then murdering her and her 5-year old sister and her parents. Accused include Pcf. Steven Green of Midland Texas, Spc. James Barker, Sgt. Paul Cortez, Pfc. Jesse Spielman, Pfc. Bryan Howard and Sgt. Anthony Yribe.

Four soldiers — Pfc. Corey R. Clagett, Spc. William B. Hunsaker, Staff Sgt. Raymond L. Girouard and Spc. Juston R. Graber have been accused of killing blindfolded Iraqi detainees for sport.

American soldiers used white phosphorus in the operation Phantom Fury attack on Fallujah. Though white phosphorus is not specifically banned, all incendiaries were banned by the UN in 1980. White phosphorus spreads on the skin and catches fire. It cannot be extinguished or washed off with water. In military slang, white phosphorus is known as Willy Pete. or Whiskey Pete. Italian TV broke the story. The Boston Globe, All Headline News and Reuters reported the story.

Mark 77 Incendiary bombs All incendiaries have been banned by the UN (United Nations) since 1980. The department of defense has admitted to using MK-77 in Iraq. MK-77 is just napalm in canisters.

American soldiers used napalm in the attack on Fallujah. Napalm has been banned by the UN since 1980.

Nerve gas: even Hitler refused to use this. On 2005-03-01, Dr. Khalid ash-Shaykhli of Iraq’s Ministry of Health made the revelation at a Baghdad press conference :U.S. forces used mustard gas, nerve gas and other burning chemical weapons against Iraqi civilians in their November assault on the city of Falluja.

America, Britain, Russia and Pakistan all convert their nuclear power plant wasted into DU weapons and sell them on the international market. A DU round is 10 pounds of solid uranium, contaminated with plutonium, americium, neptunium and uranium-236. It catches fire the instant it leaves the barrel. On impact, 40-50% spalls (breaks off into tiny bb sized shrapnel). The oxides form a fine inhalable powder. One third of the Gulf War vets are on permanent disability. Since the Iraq war started in 2003, American forces have fired at least 120 tons of shells packed with depleted uranium.

In one month of the war, Associated Press tallied 3,240 civilians deaths in Iraq.

American soldiers tortured prisoners at Abu Ghraib and Guantánamo Bay detention centre. The FBI corroborated. The story was carried by UPI, The New York Times (which did dozens of front page stories). Sgt. Erik Saar has written a book called Inside the Wire about his six months torturing POWs (Prisoner Of Wars) at Guantánamo.

It is natural to want to disbelieve accounts of torture. It is sickening to discover the depths of cruelty your fellow man can sink to. All you have done is sweep it under the carpet. You can’t stop the torture if you lie to yourself that it does not exist. It is real. There are even criminal convictions.

Bush sent a directive in 2002-02 that the resistance in Afghanistan were to be treated as terrorists, unprotected by the Geneva conventions. This left the fighters and POWs (Prisoner Of Wars) open to any conceivable torture.

Navy Seal Dan Cerrillo, testified the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) ordered the Seals to torture prisoners. Government documents show soldiers were ordered to beat the fuck out of prisoners. The US used trained dogs to rape prisoners. Raping young Iraqi boys on video. Pulitzer prize winner and breaker of Mai Lai, Seymour Hersch has seen one of the videos. The most horrifying part is the Americans raping a little boy in front of his parents as the little boy screams.

To break the prisoner’s reliance on God, a female interrogator would tell the detainee that she was menstruating, touch him, then make sure to turn off the water in his cell so he couldn’t wash. Strict interpretation of Islamic law forbids physical contact with women other than a man’s wife or family and with any menstruating women, who are considered unclean. At Guantánamo, a prostitute menstruated on a man strapped the floor.

Flushing the Qur’an (the sacred text of the Muslims) down the toilet. Leaving it out as the only toilet paper. This is equivalent to making Americans shit on or burn the flag. Oddly, this more than any other humiliation or torture, has the Muslims of the world up in arms. 100 people were hurt in protests in Iran. Clerics have even threatened jihad over it. There are also reports of standing on the Qur’an, throwing or kicking it in toilets and urinating on it. There have been many reports of the Qur’an being stepped on, tossed on the floor and placed in latrines. The LA Timesconfirmed dozens of such reports not only at Guantánamo, but also at American-run detention facilities in Afghanistan and Iraq. Britons too corroborate the story. The Pentagon lied when they said they had received no reports of Qur’an desecration. The Red Cross informed them as early as 2002. FBI documents confirm widespread Qur’an desecration. Brigadier General Jay W Hood acknowledged incidents of Qur’an abuse. On 2005-06-03, the Pentagon described five confirmed incidents of Qur’an mistreatment at Guantánamo Bay, in which the Muslim holy book was kicked, stepped on, soaked by water balloons, defaced with a scrawled obscenity and sprayed with urine. Ironically many of those on the newsgroups asserting that it was a preposterous lie than Americans had desecrated the Qur’an had previously posted their own Qur’an desecrating fantasies and acknowledged atrocities and tortures far worse.

If these abuses sound too outrageous to believe, have a look at the routine use of torture and abuse in domestic prisons in the USA.

Guantánamo and Abu Ghraib were not the work of isolated deviants. All this torture was exquisitely planned ahead of time by the Bush administration. Bush and Rumsfeld spent far more time plotting the torture than they did the invasion. Think about that. Torture is something you do as a last resort. These guys relished it, slavering over it for months like kids eager for Christmas. The men who ordered them to do the atrocities got medals.

The torture was not just a few bad apples. It goes right to the top. Both Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International USA say there is prima facie evidence against Rumsfeld for war crimes and torture. And Amnesty International USA says there is also prima facie evidence against Bush for war crimes and torture.

35 Reasons why I Hate America

The US Military IS Guilty of War Crimes

The American soldier knows full well there are no WMDs (Weapon of Mass Destruction). He knows the UN (United Nations) has declared the war illegal. He knows Syria is no threat to the USA. He knows the USA attacked Syria, a tiny unarmed country, without provocation. He knows full well Americans are killing more children than adults. He knows about the atrocities and torture committed by Americans. He knows he is not defending America; he is fighting a war of aggression on her behalf. He knows the war in not about Assad but about oil.

I doubt people in general will be much interested in using the term terrorist precisely. However, it does have a clear meaning.

In determining what constitutes terrorism, it does not matter who does the killing. What matters is who is killed. In particular, when soldiers or civilians kill soldiers, it is not terrorism, no matter what means they use. That is just ordinary warfare. When soldiers kill civilians it is terrorism, no matter what means they use.

Terrorism : killing civilians with the intent of changing their political affiliation.
~ Caleb Carr (born:1955-08-02 age:61), military historian

Sources show Americans have been butchering Iraqis like fish is a barrel.

Americans have killed over a million civilians, mostly children in Iraq. This is the only peer-reviewed scientific statistic of the war. Politicians have tried to deny it, but the figure still stands. As science, it cannot be dismissed.

That makes them terrorists, whether you approve of that action or not. This makes the American soldiers in Iraq international war criminals and also criminals under American law. Had Hitler won WWII (World War II), prosecuting he Nazis would have been much delayed. Similarly, since America is so militarily powerful, it will be hard effect mass prosecution. Only a few lesser lights who stray outside the protection of the USA will be nailed to start. Germany has already started prosecuting. Consider that some Nazis were not prosecuted until they were in their 90s. The political balance of power could change substantially over the next 70 years. American involved in the terrorism cannot count on perpetual protection.

I have received emails from many Americans utterly convinced that Americans have killed no civilians in Iraq. If anyone did it, in their view, it must have been someone else. Americans are Boy Scouts, the good guys. They could not possibly have done such a thing. Any evidence to the contrary must be lies. Any photos of the alleged evil deeds must be fakes. That does not pass the laugh test. Consider:

America has spent a trillion dollars, (that’s forty-thousand dollars per Iraqi man, woman and child) to force them to surrender. That’s one heck of a lot of mayhem.

America has the biggest and most advanced military on earth. It has been pounding Iraq since 2003, longer than WWII, and still the Iraqis will not surrender and hand over control of their natural resources (mostly oil) to the Americans.

As part of a successful divide and conquer policy, Americans fomented friction between Kurds, Sunnis and Shia and fomented a civil war. They provided arms to feed it. They are thus responsible.

Terrorists are people who kill civilians to browbeat them into changing their politics.

Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act in 1998. Then Bush took over and the rest is history.

29,200 bombs and missiles were used on Iraq in the first month. Killing tens of thousands of civilians in 2003 March.

Epidemiologists estimated 650,000 Iraqi deaths by 2006 and by 2008 that figure would reach over a million dead.

Air strikes on villages and buildings full of people. Fallujah was declared a "free fire zone" and then thousands of civilians were killed.

US occupation deliberately targeted Sunni Muslims killing over ten percent of Sunnis and driving most out of their homes, clear genocide.

If Bush was not bad enough, Barak Obama took over and added drones to the already grueling checklist of US war crimes. The US has never paid war reparations to Iraq for aggression, genocide or war crimes.

US soldiers in addition to humiliating Iraqi soldiers, now carry out dead-checking, killing wounded fighters and civilians.

360 degree rotational fire on streets with civilians by US soldiers is a daily occurrence.
